Stromboli är fortfarande en aktiv vulkan, och hur man kan bosätta sig här övergår mitt förstånd! Men dat har man gjort och levebrödet består av turister! Färjorna går i skytteltrafik, folk väller in, handlar och äter. De som fortfarande kan gå kan ta en 3-timmars promenad upp till toppen och titta på rök och gnistrande fyrverkeri, med en betald guide förstås.
Att ankra här har sina problem, minsta djupet är 35 meter, för det krävs en kätting på 150 meter, så mina 40 förslår inte långt. Detta har naturligtvis ortsborna tagit fasta på och har lagt ut ankringsbojar till det facila priset av 400 kr/natt!!!
Stromboli is still an active volcano, and how people can settle down here is beyond me! But they do and livelihood consists of tourists! Ferries come and go constantly, people spend their money on souvenirs, food and shopping. Those who still can walk can take a 3 hour stroll to the top and watch smoke and sparkling fireworks, with a paid guide of course.
To anchor here has its problems, the minimum depth is 35 meters, that requires a chain of 150 meters, so my 40 is not sufficient by far. This of course, has the locals taken advantage of and deployed anchoring buoys for the incredible price of 40 €/ night!
